Dr. Rand is a licensed clinical psychologist working with the elderly, adolescents, adults, and couples. She has expertise in treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, addictions, chronic pain, trauma, and stress management. She provides hypnotherapy, long-term and brief psychotherapy, group therapy, and evaluation of cognitive capacity. Dr. Rand especially enjoys helping the elderly and the disabled adjust to their changing life circumstances, creatively reflecting on their lives, and deriving satisfaction and meaning from their values and positive memories.
In her treatment, Dr. Rand takes a client-centered approach. She draws from aspects of humanistic, client-centered, psychodynamic, behavioral medicine, and cognitive behavior therapeutic approaches. She enjoys helping her clients learn from their life experiences and to acquire positive coping mechanisms.
Dr. Rand obtained her doctoral degree from the University of Cincinnati in Clinical Psychology in 1984. Prior to studying psychology, Dr. Rand majored in English Literature at Harvard University. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, walking her dog, and writing short stories.
